A few weeks ago I was antiquing with my better half and I found a thick book called “The Pictorial Encyclopedia of Railways” by Hamilton Ellis 1968 Paul Hamliyn publisher. It could be the best $6 I have spent all year, almost 600 pages of photos and drawings of railroads around the world and thru history. So far I can’t decide if my favorite photo is the steam donkey pulling freight down a pier in Melbourne Australia lined with clipper ships. (1909) or the picture of Markham Marshalling Yards (Illinois Central hump yard) seen from the control tower. The book is full of great pictures and more ideas than I could use in a dozen layouts.

Are there any other books I should be looking for?
