To the members of Trains.com. My name is Robert
Hargrave, and I work for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in
Phoenix, Arizona. One of our Deputies, Officer Rattner, has an 8 month old son Derek, and Derek has (Congenital Bilateral Renal Hypoplasia)and needs a kidney transplant. Derek weighs 16 pounds and must be 22 pounds for the surgery, and presently has a feeding tube inserted into his stomach to help him gain weight.
Derek's mother has had to quit work to be home full time to take care
of him. Officer Rattner is giving his son a portion of one of his
kidneys, but the family needs help with prescriptions, and medical
costs not covered by insurance, as well as travel expenses. (The
surgery must be performed in California.) In looking for a way to
contribute to this event, I am building 3 locomotives and offering these as prizes to try and help the family. If you belong to, and would like to pass this information along to any of the members of your clubs ororganization for the raffle, I am offering the (3) prizes listed below.
(First prize) I built a custom model of a Lehigh Valley GP38-2 unit 317: this is an Athearn old style kit but has many modifications to the shell and will have many detail items applied.
(Second Prize) I am building a Custom Conrail GP38-2 again with many details and body modifications.
(Grand Prize) A custom built SD40-2 with the winners choice of roadname.

When I build one of these models I work from a photo af an actual
unit and construct the model to match the unit as close as I can.
The raffle will start on March 6, 2005 and end April 11, 2005. Any
donations received after April 21, 2005 will be deposited to the
charity account for the Rattner family, but won't be part of the
raffle. The winner will be chosen on Friday, April 22. This will
allow any donations sent on the last day to be received and added.
Tickets are $1.00 each and for each dollar you donate one ticket will
be put into the drawing in your name. I will compile a list of
donators, and after the drawing is finished anyone wishing to see the
list can email for a copy (minus addresses). The results will be
posted to the Modeling Diesels board for the group to see. If you
want more information to verify this event contact me at
booker1067@a.... To purchase a ticket for the raffle send your
donation to me @ R. Hargrave 11918 W. Washington St. Avondale AZ.
85323 Please include your name, address, Phone #, or if you prefer
Email address so we can contact you if you're one of the winners.
Just remember - think of the 'little future railroader' that needs
our help! THANKS!
