About twenty years ago there was a question asked in MR about Civil War figures suitable for HO, since the questioner couldn't find any.

They should have asked me.

In wargaming, 18mm scale is the same as HO. Again, there are some figures available that would work. 20mm wargaming scale is 1/76 or 1/72 scale.

FWIW: One of the more heavily produced 18mm scale games was All Quiet On The Martian Front.

The steam tanks for this game were great, and one pack of figures of "Fleeing Civilians" is very useful.

HOW CAN I NOT HAVE ANY PICTURES OF MY FLEET OF AQOTMF STEAM TANKS?

Opps, you are right, that diorama was HO, not N.

I thought N scale was 1/160 .

1/72 scale figures wouldn't work... unless you really, really stretch the bounds of " selective compression".

I used 1/72 figures for an n sale diorama I did years ago (decades ago), they were maritime figures and I did the docks and rails and they looked good, the scales were close enough that most observers would not totice, so check maritime 1/72 scale figures too.

There is an active CivilWarRailroads group on groups.io.  I'd have a discussion over there on this subject.

HO would have netted your friend a wider market for Civil War stuff from locomotives to scenery that N severly lacks.

About twenty years ago there was a question asked in MR about Civil War figures suitable for HO, since the questioner couldn't find any.  The answer was to use 1/72 scale figures, not perfect but easily available and more than close enough that the difference in scale would be hardly noticeable.

Your options are extremely limited.  The market for N Scale is mainly focused on the 1960's to the present day.  Like others said you will either have to do special orders if they still do them from certain companies, accept compromises out of scale, or make your own stuff from scratch.  HO would have netted your friend a wider market for Civil War stuff from locomotives to scenery that N severly lacks.

I know that GHQ-Models makes 10mm - N scale military figures for both sides and branches of the armies.   Not sure about civilian.

10mm Wargaming Scale (1/150) is almost spot-on for N scale, close enough for sure.

Dark Horse Hobbies has some Civil War Civilians.

10mm civilians from the American Civil War (ACW), Napoleonic Wars, and anything from the Victorian Era would all work.

World War 1 civilians could also be used. I don't think too many members from the style police will be analyzing his T-Track module.

Many years ago ( I think about 1995 ) I special ordered some  N scale civil war Era civilians from Priser.

They were a bit more expensive than their regular figures, probably because of the big puffy dresses the women were wearing.... and they came pre-painted.

N Scale Civil War

Does anyone know of a source for N scale Civil war figures civilian and military?  A friend is building an T trak module in that scale and he's having a hard time finding anything.

Thanks,

Jarrell
