If you need Cal-Scale parts, go direct to the owner, Bowser, otherwise known as English's Model Railroad Supply, in Montoursville, PA.  They have racks and racks of detail parts, one of my favourite places to visit when I'm in the area.

I have purchased this exact part, for the same application you want it for.

Yes, do buy them, there great!

( also: you should buy any cal-scale parts you can get your hands on.. I find all sorts of projects for them )

Rust...... It's a good thing !

Overall I have been very happy with Cal Scale parts, but I make my own numberboards from styrene strip.

Yes, I was going to put it on my AS-616s I purchased in a lot off Ebay. Matt

Whether you should purchase the Cal Scale part or not depends on what you are going to use it for.  If you are going to use it on Baldwin AS-616s, go for it.  The Cal Scale part will require some dressing with some solder and filing to address some roughness on the top of the castings, judging from the photo you linked.  I do not own any of these castings since the Baldwins were gone before the 1980s, which I model.  These are diesel parts, not the same as those used on steam.
