Good morning.  Lots of coffee today.

We have a lot of forum diners with health issues or dealing with family tragedies.  I hope each of you can get healing, peace, or both into your life again.

These are the days we wait for all summer long -- low humidity, temperatures in the 70s, light winds.  The only complaint after being outside is that the insects love this weather, too.  We'll put up with insects to sit in the front porch rocking chairs.  Daisy the Dachshund loves being out there, too.

I continue to work on some layout buildings, but more and more, I'm getting the feeling I may need to make major changes to the layout.  When my wife agreed that I could use a spare bedroom for the layout, it was a small undertaking.  Gradually, I have taken over the room.

But what started as a small layout has been added onto, and not always with good planning.

I'm not ready to scrap it yet and start over, but I have a feeling that day may come.  I am keeping track of all the mistakes I have made so that I can make improvements next time.

While I like that manufacturers are including parts diagrams, they are sometimes lacking in detail. (And I even found one for a different brand that was incorrect! Fortunately I figured that one out before something broke.)

I wondered if it was bottom cover off first. Now you have confirmed it.

Trains - Anyone ever remove side frames from a BLI AC6000? Maybe I'm being too gentle (again), or there's some trick to release some hidden clip I'm missing.

Just like Athearn, Atlas, P2K and others, you HAVE to remove the bottom gear cover [76] by unlatching the two end clips as shown in the BLI drawing. There are four prongs that engage tabs on the sideframes to lock them in.

Once the bottom cover is off the sideframes should slide right out. In many cases the bronze bearing/pickup strip is fixed to the plastic sideframe. You may have to disconnect the wire to completely remove it.

Weather - The time of year where we go from AC to heat back to AC. At least it's blue skies and sunshine! 

W*^k - The j*b is going well. Just got notice today we are getting the "hazard pay" from March 13-June 30 this week, so my chiropractor visits just got paid for. (As did a pre-order loco.) 

Trains - Anyone ever remove side frames from a BLI AC6000? Maybe I'm being too gentle (again), or there's some trick to release some hidden clip I'm missing. (Found a undec version to custom paint, but the side frames are gray instead of black...) 

Caught a NS local outside Erie today, as well as a GE Wabtec rebuild test set with the battery power 3000 in the consist. (Chiropractor office is just a couple of blocks from the plant.) 

Birds - Caught a bald eagle with my camera on Friday. Have to get them onto my computer.

My friends are Golden and so are yours.

My condolences for your loss of your friend Dan.  That's my little Brother's name.

 

In our family we have Little Garry.  His Father is Garry Senior that is loved just as much.  There is no Garry Jr.  If you called him that, he would know what you're saying but he would look at you like you didn't.  He is just Little Garry and always makes the best chili at our family get-togethers.

Kevin, MLC, and anyone I missed: ... Thank you for commenting regarding my post about my good friend, Dan,  passing away yesterday. 

Below is a picture taken a few years ago with Dan and the Dinner Train in Bardstown, KY. Four couples road the train that day, and we all enjoyed it.

You can't be bored on your first day of vacation and I'm not by any means whatsoever but the afternoon just got a little more interesting.

Blue Oyster just fumbled around in his deep freezer in the garage.  He said Brother-in-law it's getting a little slim pickings in here.  It's time to go get another quarter of beef because we all need to eat good tonight.

I've been by there but we've never stopped.  We ain't going to this farm and we're not going to that farm.  We're going to the Udder Farm.

I'm serious,  their last name is Udder.  And it's not that dyed red crap you buy in the grocery store.  This stuff is Brown Grass-fed, Fresh, aged right and Delicious 

Even Lion would approve!

I'll be getting my grub on tonight with my brother-in-law

 

The Thunder is starting to rumble up here but that's okay.  We can cook in the double garage tonight or down in the pole barn and Sid left his old bass here

Good afternoon, everyone.  A few duties to do today, but otherwise another nice easy day.  Finishing a building on the layout is about the most pressing thing I have to do.

It won't be the northwoods, but we will meet all three daughters and families at a cabin in southern Missouri next month.  Like always, I will just sit to the side and enjoy the bedlam.

Now I feel Just like Kevin and his Bad-Chili the other day.  So does Judy,  Barbie and Steve-O seem to be okay.

We had so much fun last night we will all need to look for a plastic surgeon to remove the smiles off our faces but there's nothing better than a greasy burger and a coke when you play late, sleep late and get up late.

Blue Oysters -n- Monster and me went to town cuz Burger King has 245 going on right now.  And we had to re-up on adult beverages

They tasted (Kinda) good but Judy and I are not used to eating like that and both our stomachs are Jacked!

 

Maybe some Pepto-Bismol or something.....The first night went fast and round 2 is just around the corner

Good morning MLC, looks like you and I are the only ones in here.

I simply want to have two hard boiled eggs in a bowl and a cup of black coffee to start this day.

The house behind mine is empty now, as is another about three houses North on my street. There are probably more, but these two are showing signs of abandonment and no upkeep. Lawns have not been mowed in three weeks, etc.

There are still more than a dozen For Sale or For Rent signs in my neighborhood. It seems September was the month a lot of people moved out.

Not much going on today for me... just working on the bathroom.

When I lived up by International Falls I knew this hot number I met at a basketball game that lived on the Iron Range

Her name was Dawn

I would drive down to see her drive down to see her drive down to see her drive down to see her

She was so lovely but I never saw the sun come up and I never did know a girl named Dusk or I would have gave that one a shot

TF, that cabin sounds just like what I need right about now along with a little fishing.

The boys and I had a place we could go and every morning just as you could see a sliver of light on the horizon without fail our friend Don would go down to the dock, peel off every stitch and go for a skinny before the rest of the lake was up to see him in his altogether. Now when we would take a newbie up with us, or a couple of ladies we would warn them not to get up too early because they do not want to see the crack of Don.

At first there was just a low rumble that barely shook the house, then the pitch of the sound rose in frequency until it was clear that what I held in my hand was mini particle accelerator.

Now that's funny writing!

It's too bad Kevin bought that expensive hammer chisel last month to break up the thinset.  All he needed was an Oral B with an EveryReady AA battery.
