How not to exit a moving subway train...

NYCT train doors cannot be opened like that.

Apparently CTQ thought that an emergency exit was necessary.

(Talk about getting off on the wrong foot)

Good morning, everyone.  It is about 55° out this morning with sunshine.  More rain last night, the lowland flooding.

I finished a bunch of trees on the layout last night. Not sure what I will work on today.

OK, that doesn't look like the position of a security camera, so why was someone filming this guy at that exact moment?

Good Afternoon, everyone —

Possibly staged, possible someone saw the idiot about to do this so they recorded him.

The world of YouTube is full of daring (read: stupid) wanna-be fame seekers. Much controversy surrounds these crazy acts. They fall into the category of the "Darwin Awards" but are recorded in hopes of scoring that "viral hit".

Ken, look for a P-M!

Yesterday there was a wreck on the CSX in Wellington, Ohio. This is on the old NYC/Big Four not far from Berea. Some of it was captured on video. Amazing to see that much mass crumple like empty soda cans:

24 hours later the "news" states that the wrecked cars are set aside and the main line is open again!

Cheers, Ed

Willie Nelson will be performing near me.

It's an outdoor pavillion, tickets on the grass behind all the seats where you can't see anything: $78 ea, the furthest real seats are $170 and up close $915 ea.

I don't think I'll be seeing Willie

Wow Henry, that's nuts for the up close tickets.  Are you sure your reading the prices right?  Up close in front of stage in Milwaukee is $122.  Of course I don't know where your located, but I just went through his tour schedual, and I didn't see any up close that were anywhere near $900 !  More like $200 or close to 300.

That's a huge different than what Ticketmaster shows.  BUT there aren't many left, a few scattered around.

The closets, row AAA, section 100, 2 seats, 17 and 18 for 300 each.

They still show lawn seats at $55.

Oh well, anyway, Willie and Co., is expensive.

Good evening .

Ed ... Wow!  The CSX derailment video is amazing .

Lion ... The guy in the video certainly acted stupidly.  He could have died doing that.

Everybody ....

Please make suggestions for June location.

I have one idea.  .. Quebec... Reason is Canadian National Railway has its headquarters in Montreal.  CN is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year although the actual date was December 2018.  ... So we might be too late.

Other suggestions are welcome.

I had a few family members who went to see Willie a few years ago. He is OLD! They said he would sing ”I’m on the road again” then had to raise his hand to get the audience to help sing the next line so he could take a bit of a break! They loved it nonetheless though. If your a Willie fan I could see someone paying higher prices (though maybe not $900!). It’s sad to say but the guy can’t have much time left.

That looks to me as some crew member’s idea of a joke! Those legs look very humanish!

I’d say your fine as long as you stay on this side of the train from the Bear.

cudaken
Then a humming bird drop by, but it did not stay long.

Hi Ken,

Hummingbird feeders are only a few bucks and all you need is some white sugar and water to feed them. Four parts water to one part sugar, boil for a few minutes, let cool and then fill the feeder. Once they have discovered the feeder they will be back multiple times per day.

Don't fill the feeder to the top. The sugar solution should be changed at least once per week or it will go mouldy which will make the birds sick. I only fill the feeder about 1/3rd full each time.

You can hang the feeder within a few feet of where you sit. It's neat to see them and hear their wings up close.

The little beasts have a real "pecking order"! They chase each other off of the feeder constantly and dog fights are not unusual. It is rare to see two of them on the feeder at the same time.

Now that you are getting unhooked from cigarettesYes, maybe we can get you hooked on birds!!Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

Cheers!!

Dave

See all those seats on the grass, that grass gets expensive.

I read "furthest real seats " as "funeral seats" the first time I read this. and Willie could be not far from Funeral seats.

I thought you wern’t supposed to step between the cars.

Of course you can step between cars, how else would you connect the air hoses! Of course you would need to ask the engineer for 3 step protection (loco in idle, reverser center, or something like that).

Whoever is going to ask brakeman bear for his union card should make sure he has 3 step as well!

It's OK as long as you got 3 step prior to doing it....

Yes!  Loco in notch 0 (idle), Reverse lever in neutral, handle removed if possible, and Electric cut to the drive trucks.  (Brakes are on full as well)  Then the Engineer says, (name) you have 3 step, the answer from the crew member is I have 3 step and usually Thank You!  When you are done the crew member says, "Engineer you may remove 3 step, the engineer repeats that back, and 3 step is removed.  Only the crew member requesting 3 step may release the order.  I had the conductor once tell the engineer to remove the 3 step I requested when we were clear.  Had words with him about the rules.....  He appologized and said "oops!  Sorry!"  Don't often get to chew out your boss....Whistling

Good morning.

who wants to suggest our location for June?  I made one suggestion, but it would be good to hear other ideas.

Also,  who is volunteering to open the Diner for June?

I agree.

As someone that has done a fair bit of work with disabled athletes, I recognize by the way this kid jumps he has motor skill issues. His motor skill issues may be caused by physical issues but I would guess it is a cognitive problem. The fact that someone would film him rather than grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and stopping him disgust me.

Please don't call him an idiot, he does not deserve such a title any more than anyone that has any other health issues. Both my son and I have worked with troubled youth and those that have physical and mental problems including many wounded warriors from all across the globe. A little inclusion works wonders in returning injured souls to mainstream society.

Quebec sounds good, I have never been there, in fact, I have seen more of the U.S. than Canada.

No Poutine for me thanks, I prefer to stay skinny.
