TF is that a Dodge cargo van turned pickup truck/convertible in the background of the picture of your wife?

Johnny

I love Johnny

I would like to think this place was operating while he was still alive because I have always loved Johnny

Johnny gave consideration for people born into problems.

Johnny understood why bad people ended up the way they did.

Johnny Was A really Good Man.

TF, that huge AT&T building, and the one next to it, look like an out-of-place commercial backdrop, glued to the wall behind those older DPM and Walthers buildings. Laugh

Where did you find that?

Mike.

Dunno, I accidentally clicked on something and got this:

Theater not politics. None of us have a dog in this hunt, and you be hard pressed to figure out what the hunt was about, just by listening.

I found a live periscope video of debate going on in the House of Parliament.  It looks like a TV show about Parliament, but it's real and they have been going on for 30 minutes with debate about parliamentary procedure about whether considering an amendment is appropriate.

The speaker looks a bit like a dishelved Columbo, wearing a black robe instead of a trench coat.  He is full of respectful comments for his honorable gentlemen colleauges and is acting like he is having the time of his life listening to the boring points of order.

As an American we all have seen snipits of Parliament with the cheers and jeers when someone speaks, and there is a bit of that, but the surprise for me is all the politeness by everyone.

One MP did step in it when he accused the Speaker of having a political sticker on his car, which impaired his impartiality.  The Speaker responded it was his wifes' car and surely the member wasn't implying his wife was his chattel.  Everyone laughed.

Hey all.  Hope everyone is good, well better than I am right now.

I think I fell into a Springsteen song, I went to a career assistance agency run by the state, and they wouldn't help me.  I was looking for a career aptitute test to see what I should apply for, but they "Don't do that here, unless you apply for a specific job".  I don't know what I'm going to do next, but I know one thing....I'm not relying on the "great commonwealth of PA" for anything besides school loans- Its me against the world.  All I know is, I want to go to college, or some secondary schooling

In other news, More was done of the kitchen.

So there is that at least.  I also found, He had almost a full collection of Narrow gauge and shortline Gazette from 1975 to 2000.  I'm defintely not getting rid of those.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Evening diners,

Today I went to the podiatrist, got the mammoth ingrown toenail removed, he decided to remove both sides of the nail (big toe) and cauterize the nailbed, I still have a nail though, I just hope he didn't take too much off by doing both sides.

The whole process was really painless once the anesthetic injections were over (took a whole vial of anesthetic to numb it up!) Until I left the office then it started killing me, took some tylenol and it got worse, its feeling better for the time being.

Yesterday I finally started working in my shop again, it was sunny and actually kinda warm, got about half the junk moved out of the building.

I'm uploading some pics to Imgur but with my internet it's going to take a while.

Good evening ...

Henry .... Those are fast workers in the video. Smile ... The track workers are quite a contrast to the gandy daners of the past.

Jimmy .... Good to see your kitchen progress.... A suggestion if you don't mind. Ask the local car delers if they need a driver. Dealers pay people to drive cars being transferred to other dealers. They also, need drivers to move cars within the dealership. That might be a temporaty job while you look for permanent work. ... Remember, we Diners cae about you.

Good evening Diners,

Jimmy:  Sorry to hear of your job displacement.  FWIW, theres a book that's worth looking at called "What Color is Your Parachute."  It can help assess your skills and attitudes for various work.  Find out what you enjoy doing, and find out if there's a way to get paid for doing it.  What kind of training do you need to acquire the skills to do it.  Example, you posted a picture of a partially installed kitchen.  Did you think of the possibility of becoming a kitchen installers?  There is a need for them.  But, if that doesnt float your boat, find out what does.  It may lead you to school, but maybe not.  Your choice.  The point is to set goals and not get discouraged.  I hope this can help.

Steven:  i hope you feel better soon.  Ingrown toenails can be painfull.

Hello to everyone, and I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Good evening folks,

Imgur finally got through uploading the pictures of my shop.

As you can see it's still quite a mess but it's much, MUCH better than it was, my crazy extended family that were "cleaning" it out merely rummaged through everything and piled it against the back wall in search of anything of value.

P.S. TF yeah that's the BATBUILDING! Dadda dadda dadda dadda da! See ya later, same bat-time same bat-channel!

Curious, Steven. What size are your photos* that you upload? It looks like they are pretty big. If you can use some photo editing software, Windows Paint, even, and reduce their size to maybe 800 or 1000 pixels wide they might upload much faster.

* I see they are 4032 pixels wide. If you shrink these to 800 or so they will still be quite legible on a web page and will upload much faster. Use the "save as" and rename each photo with a prefix you will still have the original photo saved.

A good evening to all...

Regards, Ed

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer please.

Work Front By today standerds it was a good day with $1700.00 in sales and should have made a extra $105.00 I think?

Lack Of Health Front While I felt some what better today I am starting to lose my voices and it getting a little harder to breath. What real sucks rail spikes is I have a appointemt Tuesday the 15th? Hate to go to the VA twices in 6 days?

Warm in the garage finally! Broke down and fired up the Propane Bottle Heater. While I still hate the idea of having a Propane Bottle in the garage / train room it is nice not to be cold. I have it on the lowest setting but still some what worried about CO2 bulid up.

Jimmy How old are you? I hit my strad when I turned 27 which at the time was normal in the hiring game. Far as the aptitute testing is that so you know what you should be good at? Before I joined the Army I took a Army Aptitute Test. It said I should be a wrench and work in the motor pool fixing broken jeeps and such! Not what I wanted to do with my life! Yes I am good with cars and such but not my goal.

Good Morning!

I went to see Frank yesterday and the good news is he is feeling much better, although he has a terrible gash in his forehead!  In fact, he released himself from the hospital because he did not feel safe after the Police withdrew their guard. He is now in a safe place.

I am disgusted, however, how each side abuses the attack for their own cause and how the truth is twisted and bent to fit whichever way one chooses to look at it. To quote Shakespeare "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark Germany"!

Petra and I are still in a state of shock about the attack. It is not the first one that happened, albeit the most spectacular one. We are glad to have enough food stocked up so we need not to leave the security of our apartment. Frankly, I am too old to easily cope with a threat, even if it may only be a felt one and not an imminent one.

Happy times!

Hey all. morning.

Ulrich: Glad to hear your friend frank is recovering.  Sending well wishes his way.

swp: that Shed looks really hot, hope you'll have AC in there.

jim Ken:I'm 27, and have bounced through 4 jobs. first job I was at, i lasted 3 years, then went to UPS- I quit, but after I realized physically I couldn't do the work loading trucks.  Then went to a grocery store, and made 7.40 for 4 years. Then this most recent was 6 months at 12.50.  So I've been trying to work my way upward.  I'm going to look into either secretarial work or janitorial work..... my back has Really gone south.  Must have been from the fact I carried all my high school books in a backpack all day-I was bullied and didn't want my stuff vandalized.

Well, I got a few things done lately. i also still have a trip to the Daytona 500 coming up. I already paid for it, so why not take it? 4 weekend days  At that.

Good morning from the West Coast.

Well after a hectic Christmas season things have returned to normal. Had a great trip to Seattle with the kid to a Hockey exhibition they were putting on. There was a game between the Canadians and Seattle team that was a bit of a cluster. A van with the two coaches and four players was held up at the border and had not arrived for the game so we only had 8 players compared to the 14 the Americans had. I was snoozing way up in the stands and felt a tap on my shoulder, it was the organizer of the event asking what we should do as far as the game is concerned and I said let's just play with what we got. She also said the kids want me down to coach as they needed someone. So much for my nap.

It was a full-length game and even with the Americans pulling a fast one by holding our guys at the border (usually only the Russians do that to usLaugh) we pulled out a victory 4-2. You never saw such winded players in your life, having only two extra guys.

We all had a great time at the pub after the game and returned for the evening events afterward. I felt so sorry for the lady in charge of the whole thing as she kept apologizing for the border mess. I told her it wasn't her fault so don't worry about it.  She had worked a long time putting the whole thing together and seemed somewhat devastated by the whole mess. It was only one game and the rest of the day was a smashing success and a lot of fun. By the time we got home we had been up 22 hrs so it was a long day.

TF, I am feeling a little peckish, so if you have a little Walleye for the barby I am in. We had property at a lake called Ottermere, about a 100 miles east of Winnipeg. You could only get there by train as there were no roads. The family owned three properties altogether, each bought for one of the kids around 1920. Even after we moved to Vancouver in 1959 we continued to go back until the late seventies. Nothing but good memories. The place was really in the middle of nowhere and there was a native family that lived across the lake maybe 30 people in all. It was like stepping back in time when we stopped in for a visit. They lived in cabins through the harsh winters and teepees in the warmer months. Used birchbark canoes instead of motorboats like the rest of us. There was also an old sawmill left by the RR. Maybe they cut ties with it.

Pickerel was the fish I remember catching the most. I remember catching a turtle on my line once when I was quite young. It terrified me. I was out with my Grandmother fishing and she was so excited when she saw it surface she screamed turtle soup!

No electricity, no phone or any other way to communicate, heaven.

My extended family must be in this photo somewhere. I remember as a young boy taking my Grandpa to the station in the boat and staying with him until the train came in the wee hours of the morning. It was a flag stop and I had to make sure he put the flag up. After he got on the train I would put the flag back and head out across the lake as the Sun was coming up. Those are the moments in time you never forget.

Image result for ottermere

Meeting the train was the big social event at the lake as it was all hands on deck to unload the baggage cars or if it was a big load CN would spot a box car or two on the small siding. You should have seen all these tiny boats loaded with lumber from the boxcars heading across the lake to where new additions to cabins and docks were being made.

https://www.ottermere.com/

Well, time to go take down the Christmas lights and hit the train room with a wee bit of the Scotch I bought myself before Christmas. I have only had one glass so far, I have some catching up to do.Pirate

All the best to all.
