Wither old Tyco Forums?
Posted by cedarwoodron on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 11:15 PM

I tried to access the "Tyco Forums " website several times recently and do not get a response in Google. I see a new site "Tyco Depot Train Collectors and Model Railroading Forum" that has numerous categories and appears current. Did the old website get replaced by the new one ????

Tyco Depot is thriving with a lot of incredibly knowledgeable people posting every day. I'm a member there and can't say enough about how much I've learned from those very nice folks.

I haven't been able to access the website for almost a week now.  Is anyone else having trouble?

I can't get to Tyco forums, either.

A few more comments regarding Tyco Forums,:

1. I agree that the "Tyco Depot" site shows a good structure and will be useful- that is not the issue, however.

2. Like Darth Santa Fe, I had been a semi-regular contributor to the Tyco Forums and with it being inaccessible, a great deal of legacy postings which contained photos and other relevant how-to information is now lost.

3. I wrote "had been..." regarding postings on that site because I noticed that those doing much of the posting were a fairly small insular group. At one point some sort of argument broke out and I was turned off by the unnecessary chatter which accompanied it.

4. I noticed that periodically, one would Google the Tyco Forums site and get a white page with a "cannot be accessed" message. I attributed this initially to periodic site maintenance but the increasing frequency of that blank page response suggests other issues going on with the site owner's status. Now, you get no response at all from a googling of the site.

I guess the only real answer to the question of what hapoened lies with the site owner, but the lack of access to archival posts and modeling info puts some modelers at a disadvantage now.

Darth, if you hear any news, please let others know.
