jjdamnitI've also had great success with the Rust-Oleum brand Metallic Finish #7715 Aluminum.
Yes, I've had good luck with that 7715 also. I tend to prefer Krylon, but it's selectin arund here tends to be more limited for some reason than Rust-o colors.
Rust-oleum also has another, slightly duller aluminum, but don't have a can of it currently. It's in the non-metallic series of colors.

I don't paint many things that color. I have an old rattle can of silver paint that was bought for another purpose, long forgotten. I typically use that and then spray over with Dull Coat or Krylon clear flat paint. This gives the look I want for metal roofs and chain-link fence.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
I think Krylon is the best rattle can paint since it seems to go on thinner than all others.
I read an article years ago in MR that pointed me towards this, but it was submitted by a modeler about a building project so I'll never remember for sure where I read it.

I have used Krylon nickel satin to simulate stainless steel. I think it looks as good as any rattle can for that purpose.

Hello all,
I too use rattle-cans for the bulk of my painting.
The nearest paint supply is my local True Value hardware store.
For a more subdued aluminum finish I discovered the house brand Do It Best #780313 Aluminum.
I've also had great success with the Rust-Oleum brand Metallic Finish #7715 Aluminum.
Both of these have a polished aluminum finish; as opposed to a bright silver aluminum finish, which means I don't have to use a dulling spray.
They also color match from brand to brand.
Hope this helps.
"Uhh...I didn’t know it was 'impossible' I just made it work...sorry"
I recently read either here of a Krylon Silver Metallic spray paint, and needing something along that line, I went to my local Walmart this afternoon and saw that color. But- another one caught my eye- Krylon Colormaster Metallic paint series "Aluminum Metallic" #3450 (Krylon's product number). I just used it on an old AHM center cab shell and it looks great- the flow is great and smooth. I got the "25% more " taller spray can. The can doesn't say gloss on the label, but a bit of Pledge or gloss clear coat would not hurt for applying decals. As it sprays, it may be a bit too bright so I will use Dull cote to knock it down after decals are on it. Great stuff!
