Need help finding replacement gear for old MDC 2-6-0 Mogul
Posted by Bob grech on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 7:10 PM

Can anyone help me find the NWSL part number equiv for the step gear used in MDC 2-6-0 Mogul (63 inch drivers). The orginal MDC part number for the step gear was 22023. I really love the old engine, and it would be a shame if i could not repair it.

if anyone may this step gear in their scrap /parts bin, i would be willing to buy it from you.

Thanks in advance.....

Bob.

Have Fun.... Bob.

NWSL has a complete set of gears for MDC locos. I bought a couple sets with the matching worm some years ago. The 45 to 1 and 72 to 1. The worm is on the motor shaft. Many seem to call it a worm gear. The worm gear is on the idler shaft with a spur gear.

I just looked at the NWSL site. Scroll down a ways.

By the way, never, ever, wear in a gear with tooth paste. Right in the NWSL page.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

I just looked at the loco diagram. I am not sure the NWSL parts are the same cut. You might email or call Dave the owner and ask.

Is your loco the old MDC version or the one that was sold by Athearn, the Roundhouse? Not sure there would be any difference. Maybe just the motor. Mine have the smaller motor with flywheel.

Dave has helped me in the past.
