With the shell off you can't see how the cab interior is attached?
One thing you could do, is give Athearn a call. I have, with technical questions, and always received an answer. A real person, who speaks english, actually answers the phone.

I don't know what else to do, with out having this in my hand. I'm still thinking there is some kind of tab, or tabs, that hold it in.
Do you think this is factory installed? or did you buy it from a private seller, who may have glued the assembly in?

This cab roof does not come off. No magnets on it. It's a 1 piece cab. I think the newer Genesis locomotives the cab roof is held on with magnets but not mine.
Sorry to say the instructions don't show it.
Something else to check out, the cab roof should come off, held on by two magnets. That should expose headlights that are on the top, between the number boards.
For headlights in the nose, you should be able to access them by removing the body shell.
Something to try.
I wish I could help you more, but I can't find any instructions, or parts sheet that includes the interior, on a quick search.
It must be attached to the shell, and not the frame, so maybe just some gentle prying? Or maybe trying to slide a sharp blade between the interior and the shell?
I'm just shooting from the hip here.
Does the instructions show the cab interior?
I have run into a dilema. I am unable to safely remove the cab interior from my ES4400DC Athearn Genesis locomotive. I need to change out the light bulbs. I have looked at the directions that come with the model but can't figure it out. Does anyone have any experience with this that can help or point me in the right direction please?
Thank you,
Bill
