Sorry to be so long winded, but, it has been a very long week and I am about ready to feed the cats,

After a week I'll bet the cats are glad to finally get a bite to eat Laugh!  OK, I know what you were saying but you know how our language can get twisted around.

Thank you for sharing your story, Ray. You are surrounded by some good people and your life is all the more enriched for it Yes

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your first wife, especially at such a young age. Sometimes life isn't very fair.

Ray:

Sorry for the loss of your wife and your friend Rosa. Rosa certainly did more than her share for the community. I'd like to be sent off that way too.

Funny you should say that....  Presbyterians are known for being formal and staid... LOL  My Pastor came in for a few minutes (she had meetings with a couple groups for installation of officers tomorrow in church and our annual meeting) during the opening groups of songs (Rousing!) and after we both stood there clapping and moving with the music, I leaned over and told her, "When I do the high kickoff, this is the type of service I want....."  She nodded her head and grinned....

Sometimes life isn't very fair.

No truer words were ever spoken, Dave.

I somehow got through that sorrowful period through the help of a close family and friends. Surprizingly, one of my friends that I worked with at GE had gone through a similar situation some years before and I listened and tried to imagine what HE had gone through when his wife had a fatal cerebral hemorrage. We talked every day at lunch time and, of course, he didn't know it at the time, but he was giving me the strength to handle the same set of circumstances when I had to deal with it myself. Wow, that was 32 years ago. I must say the experience has given me a great appreciation for just how fragile life can be.

Cherish it.

I know you have had your own tragedy to deal with so you're no stranger to the anguish.

Well, lets try to keep things upbeat and positive Smile and put the despair on the back burner for a while!

Howdy ..

Track Fiddler ... Sorry to hear about the situation with your wife's mother. Prayers for heeling and recovery .

Ray .... Sorry to hear about your friend Rosa.... I noticed the reporter has the same last name as you. Is he in your family ?

We got on the subject of adversities. I have had plenty in my lifetime, but I'll keep them to myself for now. I strive to keep every day a positive one.

I began working on details, etc. for my 1900 era scene. There is plenty to work on.

Happy Model Railroading

 Eveing Diners.

Flo, give the gang a cold Beer and Rick and Steven a Coke.

Work Front Ick! Nancy, Miss Influenza 2018 Showed Up Again! Still hacking but not as bad. I swear that womnan cannot talk to anyone with out Lying! Case in point. Had a customer that wanted a extra firm queen sizes mattress that would work on a power base. (raise head and feet) He was fine with the floor model and it was put out about 3 months ago but looked perfect! She had to add We put it on the floor last Thursday! Whistling There was not a darn reason for her to lied about it! Bang Head

I had been felling bad about telling the Marvin, Paul and Karmon when I start getting SS I won't work weekends! Nancy has got me well pass that! They will be luck if I don't quit first! Whistling

Ed Thank You for reposting the Photo, seems pretty simple like I thought.

Steven I remember there was a bridge, just not what kind. I will take the 4 lane auto bridge back next week and pick up a few more rolling stock kits. Could you use a single line RR Bridge? It is a Life Like bridge that is about 16" long and 10" tall. I bulit it around 8 years ago, but never added the need grade to use it. I am only guessing on the sizes, nut if you think you could use it I will check the sizes.

Tin Roof sundae

It looks like it contains sweet tasty stuff that ain't good for my waist line let alone the blood sugar levels!!!Sigh

But hey, as its a virtual Diner, make mine a large one with the chocolate coated peanuts, and fudge, please Chloe.

It would appear that the traditional Tin Roof sundae consists of vanilla icecream, chocolate sauce and a scattering of Spanish red skinned peanuts.

Cheers, the Bear.Dinner

Also would like to wish those who have fallen on hard times that things get better soon... one thing I've learned is life's like a football field and as Andy Griffiths description of it goes "you gotta get that funny lookin punkin from one end down the other without gettin knocked over or steppin in somethin" and odds are thats not all that can happen...

Ed, USPS or Ultra Slow Postal Service decided that the package shouldn't get delivered on time... probably has something to do with the winter weather... makes you wonder why Amtrak doesn't resume mail service either via their own company or USPS...

Seriously I have some blue bunny pistachio almond ice cream unopened in the freezer. Also I have some hot fudge that you need to melt on the stove and add to it which would be very good yes.

Guess I've got some very good ice cream treats

I guess this will do I will be alright.

I just wonder if the Bears ice cream will be betterWink   Track fiddler

Sometimes a dollop of caramel sauce can find it's way in there, too!

...and for my "Dusty Road" (you can leave the peanuts on) you would sprinkle some tasty malt powder on top. Flo, there's an extra nickel in your tip jar if you make mine with Smucker's Hot Fudge in leiu of the plain 'ol chocolate sauce.

We can all go on a virtual diet on Monday Angel

I'll take a chocolate chip ice cream with plenty of hot fudge thank you very much!

Well did someone leave the "Sorry We're Closed" sign on the doors earlier? The diners definitely open now and boy is it busy...

I'll take a large one too, but I will pass on the peanuts with the skin on. The skin is bitter and it sticks to my teeth and the roof of my mouth. Maybe that's the real reason they call it a Tin Roof Sundae!LaughLaugh

My favourite ice cream is black cherry, especially if there is lots of fruit! Praline is good too, as long as there is lots of pralines and carmel! Licorice ice cream is great too, although I haven't found it in many years. Then there is plain vanilla with just about any liqueur poured on top! Oh heck, let's get in the hot tub with some licorice ice cream with a little Ouzo on top!!! I'm feeling fat (ter) already!Smile, Wink & GrinLaughLaughLaugh

What are your favourites? (you can list as many as you want!!).

Gidday Chloe, could you please give Trackfiddler a large scoop of my sundae, I don’t mind sharing, but not too much, as I don’t want to be blamed if his good lady finds him “blobbed out” when she returns home. Seriously though, hope there is a positive outcome.

My favourite ice cream is Hokey Pokey which is vanilla containing chunks of hokey pokey (honeycomb toffee).

Funerals were extremely dour affairs when I was young (I have the feeling Ray knows what I’m on about) and when I was old enough to go my own way, I stopped attending them. Unfortunately, before I hit twenty, I lost a few good mates, mainly as the result of motorcycle accidents and rather selfishly didn’t attend their funerals, a thing I still regret today, as it shouldn’t have been all about me, but me showing respect to the families.

However, I must admit that I prefer the “Celebration of a Life” affairs, especially relevant in the case of Rays friend, but it worked just as successfully (if that’s the right word) for a friends son who passed from cystic fibrous at the age of sixteen because he’d, with parental support, had tried to live his short life to the fullest.

It’s still sad to see good friends go, and we should never forget the loved ones left behind who have to cope with their loss as well as keeping on going.

My family are aware that I want my after match function to be a rip roaring rollicking ceilidh!!

Speaking of rip roaring and rollicking, here’s my favourite (though it really depends on my actual mood) song from Emerson Lake and Palmer…

Been a long time since I visited the diner. I'll have another coffee and pancakes with maple syrup and a little butter.

Just completed reading the entire thread so I can post a few comments on topics that interested me most.

Music: The past year was my 50th playing guitar and singing. To celebrate that anniversary, I took out my 1975 Stratocaster from it's case and had a local music shop set it up. I put the guitar in it's case in 1976 when my professional band broke up and it has been there for 41 years. You can see it in my profile pic - even has the original strap I used in my band. I am now teaching advanced guitar and play the Strat at a pub with a full band on Thursday evenings. First song I played on the Strat at the pub was Long Cool Woman.

Dogs: My 5-year old husky has recovered well from two TPLO surgeries that began back in July and now has her power back. She is enjoying our winter weather.

Literature: Last week I found two wonderful books on trains to add to my growing library. "The Science of Railways," Marshall M. Kirkman, Volume V., The World Railway Publishing Company, Chicago, 1903, and "Locomotive Appliances," from The Science of Railways Series, Marshall M. Kirkman, Cropley Phillips Company, Chicago, 1910. See a picture of these excellent condition hardcovers below.

Winter: I love our Nova Scotia winters. I regularly go hiking taking lots of icy pictures and searching for minerals at fresh Bay of Fundy rockfalls caused by the cold weather.

Working on my Lego Cape Cod roof design this afternoon. This is the third rebuild. As I make significant changes, I do rebuilds. For example, when I install the chimney on the side of the house, the roof will undergo another design change near the chimney-roof junction.

Good one moelarrycurly. I can be a little slow sometimes, after I read it the second time it finally clicked.

I got some great news from the wife a little while ago. Apparently the small-town doctor had my mother-in-law on the wrong blood pressure medication. After about 3 days on the new medication her blood pressure is almost normal and she's breathing well now. I'm so relieved things turned out for the best.

Thanks all for your prayers and supportBig Smile    Track fiddler

Also one of my favorites. I wore out a few needles listening to the Works album years back. However, I never knew there was an associated music video.

Good mor....... HEY! who ate all the ice cream? Grumpy Oh well, fewer situps required without it.

Had one heck of a 24 hour blow that now appears to be over all of a sudden and the sun is now out. A big mess to clean up now. The neighbour had a tree come down and take out my fence. I kept telling him to take the tree down because it was dead and told him it will take out my fence if it goes over. So now the tree has done lots of damage to his yard and my fence. Grrrr.

Had a good time with a bunch friends over last night. Our friend with cancer has booked a trip to Disneyland next week. She loves that place and goes at least once a year if not more. She is squeezing it in during the five days she tends to feel better between chemo treatments. She is taking her grown sons with her and that makes us worry that she may be worse off than she is letting on, as we know one of them is really busy right now in his life.

Well, I had better go out and start the cleanup, I hear the chains saws coming to life in the neighbourhood. I'm usually the guy that pulls away any trees that have fallen across the street with my truck. Being off the beaten track we are the last to get help, so we look after things ourselves. Someone always brings out the beer at some point.Laugh

Enjoyed the ELP video, always enjoy a good pirate movie as well.

All the best to all.
