This stuff ought to be ‘the nuts’ for bonding things, cross-linking definitively and quickly but only when the special light is triggered. However, it appears that the latest dental material is not cured by UV, but intense white light instead. Meanwhile I have had absolutely zero, zip, nada success with any of the commercial UV-bonding products that come with their own special lights, and that’s not for want of trying anything I find on the market repeated times on different kinds of bond.
The one exception to this brown thumb of adhesion is the product with the same refractive index as glass, which cures in sunlight. That worked beautifully when I used it years ago, but is harder to find now... and of course only works if you concentrate bright sunlight on the bond volume.
I suspect this product needs to follow the same kind of commercialization path epoxy casting did with Clouser, perhaps with someone experimenting with and optimizing the ‘older’ generations of equipment and chemicals...
I was having Dental work done and when they stuck the UV light in my mouth to set the bonding agent, it occurred to me that having a tool like this for fidgety MRR work where having the glue not set until you hit it with the UV light would be awesome. The glue stays liquid until you hit it with the light for 5 seconds.
Has anyone used this for projects and repairs? Does it perform as advertised? Maybe I am behind the times as far as discovering this product, so please let us know. Not having to deal with set drying times, fast or slow is quite appealing to me.
There are lots of video's on You-Tube about this stuff so have a look. "UV Light Glue". There is a German Product/video that is quite good for modeling applications, however, it is an add so I won't post it.
