Athearn goes LED SD60E
Posted by BigDaddy on Monday, July 31, 2017 9:52 PM

James Wright, the youtuber did a live Facebook announcement of an Athearn Genesis SD60E tonight.  All lights will be LED.  It sounded like they are stepping up their level of detail across their line.

There is no youtube vid yet, you have to go to his facebook page to see this one hour video.  Yeah I know you don't want to join facebook, well it's not up to me as to where he puts his videos.

They are having a 911 varient and a couple NS variations.

...and see-through steps, too. Which — I seem to recall — Life-Like offered back in '98 or so on their Geeps.

Actually, I believe Athearn caved in on the LED's on their release of one of the versions of big UP steam a few months back. (edit-844 FEF-3) Loksound decoder, too!

Still, it is good news although a bit contemporary for my era. I'm waiting, day-by-day, for my Amtrak SDP40Fs to arrive Cool

Here is a link to the Facebook stuff.

The video is on trainworld's youtube channel.   I am not sure if a link violates forum standards, so I leave you to do your own search.  These are the very first models, they are hand painted and I didn't watch the whole video, but I'm pretty sure there is no run by or sound demo/

The reps from Athearn look really young to me.  Maybe that's because I'm an old guy.  Sad

LEDs great but too late for me as I have a boatload of Athearn diesels that will take a lot of time to retrofit.  Better late that never, sorta
