looking for opinions on intermountain non dcc sd40 locomotive.Will they run smooth when couppled with a kato or atlas locomotive. Whitch is better kato or inteermountain sd40

From my experience Kato locomotives have a faster motor than the locomotives from Atlas or others now made in China and are hard to speed match non dcc with other brands but you might be alright with Atlas. Also you might try TrainBoard or Therailwire.com and checkout their n scale fourms as both have had extensive threads on this locomotive. If you can't find your answer there, just join and ask and I'm sure you will get a quick answer. These people have been in n scale for many years and you will be really impressed with what you can learn from them. Hope this helps.
