Well, I did it again- I bought another locomotive to be stripped of factory paint, and redone into a Wheeling and Lake Erie locomotive-kind of. It's going to be repainted into Wheeling 303, an ex-Rio Grande GP40 still in Rio Grande colors. So, my question is: Who has removed the paint off Atlas products, is it required to do so, and what is the best product to use to remove said paint, if needed?
I'll post a photo of it when it's done/

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
91% rubbing alcohol will also strip paint with damage to the plastic body. Most drug stores and some groceries carry it. Using a toothbrush is a great suggestion.

I hope you meant "without".
Hummm, my "out" fell out. Thanks!
RR_MelAny Big Box stores sell Denatured Alcohol.
Denatured alcohol contains methanol which is readily absorbed from vapor or skin contact. Wear gloves, don't use it indoors it does bad stuff to your vision and brain.
In full disclosure I was just stripping a gondola with denatured alcohol and I wondered why it was so pungent. That started me looking into what makes it denatured.

Used the 91% stuff. It did the trick.
