Robert,To tell the truth the hobby been growning stale for me over the past few weeks and I'm getting restless so,time for another approach. Maybe a change of era to steam or perhaps HOn3 or On30. I been looking at a United Class B 2 truck  Shay and a United Santa Fe 1950 class 2-8-0.Both are in excellent condition.

Whatever I decide I will keep my higher price/highly detailed models and sell off my BB cars and locomotives,Roundhouse and Accurail fight cars.

Since some mention has been made about how pricy some modeling items are I thought I'd tell about how little I just paid for a new loco from Walthers. It is a GP-15-1 W/S and it only cost $99.98. It is a good runner and I have no complaints with the sound. The DC version is only $68.

I hesitated mentioning this as I didn't want to provoke an argument about the cost of model railroading.

Pricing is relative. Back in the late 1980s, when I had two growing boys, two cars, a 11% fixed rate mortgage, and a long daily commute, model railroad products were entirely unaffordable. Now, with the boys grown and on their own, a monthly retirement payment, and only one car payment, it's not so unaffordable.

The George Washington, 2 DC powered Es, and 7 cars costs out less than the Capitol Limited with 11 cars and two diesels. Will fit better on the layout also. All I need to do is decide if I want one. Huh?

The train incidently is very close to the section that ran out of Washington, DC in 1966, just need two still available Capitol Limited B&O cars to fill it out, or not.

repaints of ATSF box cars, which I would hazard were running past 2000.

That is why i want one hope they are not sold out.

Which one?  The ATSF Bx-94 Circle Cross or the ATSF Bx-97 no circle cross?

They are nice.  I've got 2 of the late 1970's Santa Fe repaints, one is the 1978 brown "one-off" and the other is the 1977 red repaint.  I also picked up one of the sold out Penn Centrall - that one set me back $63 with shipping but I knew they would sell out fast and ordered right away.

Russell,

MBK hasn't gotten any of the newest run cars in; the black N&W are part of that run.  You can order the N&W direct from Moloco, they appear to still be in stock.

I think you will enjoy the ATSF Bx-94 box car; Moloco box cars are exquisite!

Cheers, Jim

I imagine if they chopped the prices down, they'd have to cancell the project - they need to still make some profit on it.
