Small article on page 22 indicates that I can buy shoes that go "choo choo".  Sure enough, I checked the web site and they are for real.  Hope they have my size 9.  Stick out tongue

I wonder if I can replace the sound decoder in those shoes to one with "Keep Alive" to help me walk over rough terrain without tripping?

Have Fun!

I also thought it to be an April Fool's joke a bit early but fer a different reason.  The date on my issue states February 2016.  2016!! Eh?  I thought I had lost the issue til I figured out the missprint.Huh?Cowboy

I guess they were so excited by the 'count-down to 1000' label on the cover that they lost track of the date.
Actually, since this February issue is #998, the April 2017 issue will be #1000.  Hopefully that means it will be the bestest April Fool's issue joke ever.

The shoes are offered by Broadway Limited Imports? And I thought their water tower with sound effects was silly...

Not that surprising about the shoes, there have been kid's shoes with LEDs that light up with each step they take for quite a while. My 10-yr old grandson had a couple pair back when he was a pre-schooler; I think they'd been around a few years before that? Anyway, if you can trigger an LED to light, not much different to trigger a "chuff" sound of a steam engine with each step.

Apparently since the early 1990s, at least for the light up heel, according to this.

. True, but it's rather unlikely club girls would be wearing "chuffing" sneakers as opposed to the full-sole light-up sneakers they were wearing this past summer.  The rule of cool you know.
Music playing apparently were available for sale in 2008, and probably pairs were cobbled together by electronic hobbyists much earlier. Music playing shoes, eh, I think its silly but I can see the appeal for some people.
