Alps Printer Problem
Posted by RR_Mel on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 12:02 PM

I have an Alps 106050-00 white ink ribbon that prints splotchy, does anyone know if this can be caused by age?  I bought it off eBay and I’ve had it stored in its unopened Alps box in a closet for about a year (ambient temperature 72°, very low humidity).  It prints wide lines OK but fine or tiny lines are very splotchy.

I have stored black, silver, gold and the normal color ribbons for a much longer time with out a problem.

Does anyone know of a fix?  White MD Ink Ribbons are getting scarce, if they won’t store that means big $$$$ down the road.

My printer is an Alps MD1000.  All other colors work OK.  I’ve tried three different types of decal paper.

I’ve been printing my decals for about 8 years and this is my first bad experience with my Alps printer.

I don't know if you have tried to move to a different section of the ribbon. It could be that the a section of ribbon is bad.

Before mine gave up the ghost, I would also double print any white decals as the white sometimes didn't come out very intense the first time through.

Dah, didn’t try to advance the ribbon.  I did try to double print but the fine lines looked to splotchy or raged.

I went ahead and ordered another ribbon so it’s on the way but I’ll give this ribbon several turns and try again.

Thanks, shoulda thought of that myself.
