Do you belong to a club? Maybe someone there would do it for you.
I'm beginning to realize that Windows 10 and sound decoders have a lot in common. There are so many things you have to change in order to get them to work the way you want.
This weekend I failed to notice that a post was 10 years old. This one is 16.

Hi BNSF UP and others modeller,
I just wanted to point out that you have responded to a thread that was posted in 2002 - 16 years ago! Lots of newcomers to the forums miss the original post dates. There is certainly nothing that says you can't revive an old post, but you probably won't get a response from the OP when things get past the six or seven year mark.
No big deal. I'm not being critical. I have done it myself.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
I seen that, looks like he's bouncing around catching up on old and unanswered post. I wasn't going to say anything, but after 16 years?
Just trying to help, I guess.
Mike.

Oh darn, you figured my idea out. But I thought to mself, I can't give helpful answers to some of the newst posts, so why not respond to some old ones? I feel bad for those who never got a response. That would frustrate me. Also, who knows who might stumble upon a revived thread and find it super helpful?

Absolutely correct!
Usually older posts refer to a specific piece of equipment more popularly bought and a disscussion of these pieces was more prevalent.
It does help in working on older engines that had specific problems, scenery techniques, building kits etc. I have revived older posts on Central Valley bridge kits and check out the disscusion on members opinions and various methods of better contruction and uses. No harm here, but wow 16 years...
