Need help to walk through whistle volume with SoundTraxx Tsunami decoder
and NCE power cab one step at a time.
Tsunami whistle volume CV is 129.Minimum volume=0,maximum=255.Finding the right level for you may need a few trials.I can't help you with NCE programming, sorry.
With the PowerCab, it's easy. Down at the bottom left, hit Prog/Esc button once. That first choice lets you Program on the Main (POM), press Enter. This gives you the loco number, if different from the loco you're programming, then enter the correct loco number of the one you want to POM, press Enter.
Next, Select 2=CV by pressing 2, then Enter, then enter CV as 129, press Enter, then enter whistle volume CV value. I suggest starting at 24 if you want something bearable up close, press Enter. Then down to that Prog/Esc button again, press once.
You should now be back to the normal operation screen for the loco you programmed (if not, because it was on something else, then just enter the correct loco number.) Try the Horn button to check volume. If too quiet, do it over, enter a bigger CV value. If you're like me, you'll turn it down further...
On the other hand, I still don't mind giving Black Sabbath a spin on the stereo every once in awhile

Thanks to Jacktal and miehman. Set volume to 255. Most it will do. Seems satisfactory. Problem contributing to noise levels is my hearing aids. I installed the decoder myself and it gets WARM (top of tender) after 15 minutes of use. Is this normal? All other sounds are loud and adjustable. I thought my speaker installation would need tuning. Invite tips on this.
