I am taking a very unofficial survey to see if there is enough interest to market this - how many people would be interested in purchasing a benchwork "kit"? It would consist of aluminum extrusions cut to different lengths and would assemble with self tapping screws. Four or six feet long rails would be connected together with 'joists' of user-defined lengths; the joists could be designed to include easy attachment for risers for the roadbed. Should be very strong but lightweight; aimed for portability for shows &/or if you don't have room for a permanent layout.
My thought is that the first obstacle to building a layout is all the carpentry involved. We have kits for cars, engines and buildings; why not for the benchwork?
What do you think?
