Both were made in Brass in HO at some point. Walthers has the RS-27 in HO. (Don't know the build history for them) GHQ has a T-6 conversion kit in N-scale.

I had an Alco models Alco T6. Like most Alco models engines it was a total drive system dog. I sold mine and don't miss it.

Hi David.

Walthers had the RS-27 in the P2K line.  Alas, they are no longer available.  I have the PRR #'s 2408 and 2410 with DCC and Sound which are beautiful examples.

All the best.

The Alco Models T6 is a dog out of the box.  But I can rework them to run as good as an old blue box Athearn diesel.  A new can motor, upgrading power pickup to 8 wheels instead of 4 and sometimes some work on the gears.  Alco also made the RS27/DL640 engine.  The brass versions come from a different era in models, when the modeler was expected to fine tune and upgrade the model to his specs.  Where as to day we expect perfect performace out of the box.    Mike

There was an article in MR or RMC many years ago that talked about replacing the old Alco Models chassis with Atlas/Kato chassis to improve operation.
