Linking images?
Posted by P&Slocal on Monday, April 21, 2014 12:57 PM

What am I doing wrong? I am using a photo bucket account. I go there and click on (copy) the IMG code and then come here.   " alt="" />

I have tried using the Link (chain) button and sometimes I get text that becomes a link to that image. I have tried using the Insert/edit image button and sometimes it comes up with other coding jargon attached to the image.

I am using Google Chrome as a browser. What is the proper way of adding images without getting linked text and coding jargon?

Using Photobucket, copy the "direct" link for the particular photo.  You may need to adjust your account settings to display this link as an option.

Here's the link to a web page displaying your photo that you had in your original post: http://s307.photobucket.com/user/rhs1968/media/IMG_2415.jpg.html .

Here's the direct link copied from the right hand side of that page: http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn314/rhs1968/IMG_2415.jpg

Note that the second link is for the photo itself, while the first was for an entire web page which included the photo as only part of it.  Using the link to the page will not result in the photo being placed in your post here.

Using the direct link, your photo displays like this when pasted into the URL box in the image tool:

Seeing the display loco from Pioche in your photo reminded me you must have been the guy relocating from PA out to Caliente, NV as mentioned in another thread about western train shows.  If so, welcome to the West!

You can forego using the 'Link' button by simply copying the 'IMG' link. Come back to your post and right click, click 'Paste' and the IMG link will appear in your post. Nothing else is required. Finish your post and click 'Submit Reply'.

Copying the Img link doesn't seem to work if in IE8, but Firefox will work as jeff mentions. This may be due to different browser settings. I use Firefox most of the time.

Photobucket, free version, has been "slamming" me lately w/ all sorts of garbage and many times crashing or freezing my browser. Lots of ads and sidebar videos. The paid version should eliminate this. I believe drwayne went to paid unlimited and mentioned this some time back.

I use 'Simple Adblock'. If it's an ad, it's history and I NEVER see it.

I use Internet Explorer 11 and that is how I do it.  Of course I had to add this website to compatibility mode so the more modern browser would work with it.
