RE NY&A #271 with 9/11 memorial paint scheme.

I purchased this loco when it first came out and it looks and runs fine. I was also a first responder to the World Trade Center attack on 9/11 so it held a special place for me. Additionally I observed this locomotive up close several times. The 9/11 mural on the life sized #271 looked to be spray painted  and faded quickly in the elements. Sadly #271 was repainted and no longer sports this mural.

Athearn RTR also released another NY&A GP38-2, #261 I believe, which I have paired up with #271.

New York & Atlantic #271 in 9/11 Memorial Paint Scheme with NY&A #261 at Terminal Yard. Both units have a small operation life saver decal on the rear of the long hood.

If you go to Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. and do a search on "ATH 79986" it usually pops up a link to the info on the Athearn website.

Hi!  Been out of "H.O." for a few years, concentrating on Postwar Lionel "O".    One of my neighbors asked if I knew anything about an engine he showed me.  I didn't so  here I am.

Athearn:  New York & Atlantic  GP38-2   271   ATH 79986

If you can.......Age, original price, pros & cons etc., etc........

As always, many thanks.
