Why have a Y6 b if you don't have coal to haul?

How about 150 (ish) Laurel Valley hoppers?

Or maybe a 50 car drag of Western Maryland hoppers...

and a shot from "back in the day"...

Here is an empty coal drag returning to the mines on my Piedmont Southern.

Nice to see that scene again - it's one of my favourites.  Very nicely done.  Thumbs Up

The "scratchbuilt" Lisbon station bears a striking resemblance to an Atlas kit....

Politicians of all stripes, along with their supporters, were given free passage out of this area:

I gotta work on my photographic technique.  Those shots were done with just layout room lighting, ceiling fluorescents.  Which probably accounts for the poor color.   I have a pair of real photographers lamps on stands and I will get them out and try again.  I also need to pay closer attention to aperture.  I set my point&shoot to manual in order to stop the lens all the way down to improve depth of field.  I need to double check the shutter speed on each shot to get enough light.

Your camera should also have a setting that will allow it to compensate for the fluorescent lighting - it's often called "White Balance".

This interchange coal train, recently arrived from the west, had its locos turned a couple of miles from here  and is now northbound to its final destination.  Only 12 cars long, plus a caboose, the two locos will have their hands full with this 100 ounce train on the twisting 2.5% grade ahead:

Looking good David, thanks for sharing the pictures.   We can't have too many coal drags.

Time to operate the layout.  Spectrum Consolidation pulls every coal hopper I own out of Bunk Bed Tunnel.   Color fidelity is lacking here.  The green grass looks better in real life.

We have 17 hoppers and a very high drag caboose behind the Consolidation.  The caboose has lighted marker lamps, powered off the track by wheel wipers.  Should have done axle wipers for lower drag.

Approaching Lisbon station.  Station is scratch built model of the real Lisbon NH station.

Coal drag pulls out of town past the Varney & Smith Lumber yard.
