IS ANYONE HAVING PROBLEMS RUNNING PROTO DIESELS WITH RAILCOMMAND? THEY RUN, BUT THE "PRECISION" IS POOR AND THE POWER TRAIN ACTS "TIGHT", COMPARED TO ATLAS AND KATO. EVEN MY REMOTORED ATHEARNS RUN BETTER. MY EXPERIENCE IS WITH GP-18, GP-7, AND GP-30'S. I'VE IMPROVED ELECTRICAL CONTACT, LUBRICATION, AND GENERALLY TWEAKED THE MECANISMS AT ALL TO NO AVAIL. THIS HAS BEEN OBSERVED BY SEVERAL LOCAL USERS OF RAILCOMMAND WITH PROTO DIESELS. THE POWERTRAIN APPEARS TO BE A SLOPPY COPY OF THE ATHEARN BUT PARTS ARE NOT ALWAYS INTERCHANGEABLE.
I'VE HEARD ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE THAT THEY RUN VERY WELL ON STRAIGHT DC BUT I'VE NO WAY TO TEST THIS.
I WOULD APPRECIATE SOME FEEDBACK FROM OTHER USED; I AM PUZZLED AND I AM NOT INEXPERIENCED WITH POWERTRAINS.
THANKS
