Can't believe this came back to the top of the list so soon, but amazingly enough I do have a new locomotive to add to the list.   At the Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeler's Society conference last week I won the door prize provided by a local hobby store (An Affair with Trains, Phoenix, AZ).  It is a BLI 4-8-4  Santa Fe #3755.

I'm trying to figure out how to post pictures here, and I hope this works.. An I phone picture isn't great, but I'm just experimenting..

Here goes nothing...

Not sure if you have it figured out, but in case not, maybe you need a tip:  Excuse me if I write the obvious and your know this already:

1.  Join an online photo server like Photobucket...or Flikr.......free to register and use.

2.  Upload your photo

3. Click on the "Direct Link" tab under your desired photo (at Photobucket anyway) and the correct link data is automatically copied to your computer clipboard.  It would resemble this line.... http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u172/dcrane_2007/fuelstand.jpg

4. Go to your message on this forum and place your cursor in your message where you want the image to appear.   Then click on the little film icon at the top.

5. A popup template will appear over your message.  Past the copied data from your clipboard into the box provided and hit "insert"

Hope this helps.

If you want to add something or doctor up the photo, use a photo editor like Adobe Photoshop or Windows Paint or anything like that and save the result as a jpeg and upload that jpeg to the online image host.

(One cannot insert images stored on his/her computer unless he/she is hosting a web site on the computer and can provide the image link similar to the one shown.)

Just for fun, since ya'll were nice enough to share your loco rosters with me, here is the link for the locomotive roster for my N&F RR: http://nfrailroad.com/page10.html

Nothing came to the railroad "Ready-To-Run"... diesels are scratchbuilt, steamers are restored antiques.

Thanks Everybody!

It's not that I have a lot of locomotives.  It's just that I have changed scales so often I have a very diverse selection of locomotives.

N Scale: Milwaukee Road EMD E-8/9

                Rock Island GE U-30C

                BNSF Dash 8 40-B

S Scale: C&NW Baldwin S-12

                C&NW 4-6-2 Pacific

                Reading 4-4-2 Atlantic

On30 scale: Colorado & Southern 2-6-0 Mogul (x2)

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

Here we go...

In Use:

SW1500 No. 318 BN Athearn (bought from atlasSurprise)

RIP Shop:

GE 70 Ton No. 5101 SP Bachmann DCC Equip. Needs decoder replacement

4-4-0 No. 875 B&O Roundhouse W/ sound. Decoder fried and is curently at the LHS awaiting pick-up.

In need of assignment to different district:

Reading T1 class 4-8-4 No. 2111 PCM W/ sound.

E7 AB set A unit No. 1017 FEC Proto 1k.

Both used to be able to (barley) make my sharpest curve (18"), until I added retaining walls(Whistling). Unfortunatley, there is not really anywhere else to go on a 32 sf steel mill...

Everything is HO and DCC. I have not included my super old analog locos that no longer run (on either system!).

Scary to realize what we have invested in this stuff when we stop to think about it.

I'll try to run down what's in the roundhouse now..

Brass:

CPR 2816, H1b Hudson: modernized w/tsunami heavy steam, ditch lights, front secondary whistle, oil tender, aux. tender

CPR 5934, T1c Selkirk: tsunami heavy steam, with plow

CPR 2910, F1a Jubilee: tsunami light steam

CPR 3000, F2a Jubilee: tsunami light steam

CPR 1278, G5 Pacific: in the backshop

CPR 3001, K1a Northern: tsunami heavy steam

CPR D10g: in the backshop

CPR doodlebug: in the backshop

CPR FP9a: in the backshop

CPR 8200, GP30: tsunami 567

CPR 8904, H24-66 hammerhead: tsunami FM

CPR 4000/4400, 4002/4402, ALco Fa1, FB1: tsunami 244 V12

CPR C-liners: in the backshop

Plastic:

CPR 4000/4400, 4002/4402: P2K out of service, tsunami 244 V12

CPR C-Liner, P2K, out of service

CPR E8 #1801, out of service, fried decoder

Various P2K and Spectrum switchers: all awesome runners

CPR 8905, H24-66 Trainmaster, Atlas Gold. Awesome runner, but the QSI sounds like a worn out tugboat. Need to change to tsunami ASAP.

NYC Niagara by Broadway, nice runner, sound is hideous.

Several spectrum Consolidations and one Genesis Mikado getting the Athabasca Shops cab, runningboard, and tender treatment

In the backshop being erected: 3 Point One Models GMD1 modernized, Athearn power, will have appropriate sound.

Also a few cool 'foreign' power units. Milwaukee DL109 and Erie Builts, and Milwaukee F units. All there to haul Walthers passenger cars around that just showed up one day...

CN F-units (Intermountain) to haul an attempted Super Continental train. (Rapido plastic, Wathers domes, Shoreham skyview car modified with fixed steps are per prototype.. The Intermounitain F-units (ABB) won't barely pull that 12 car train. Very poor adhesion.

WAAAY too many projects, and not even close to enough time to finish them all.

My railroad in a nutshell, I guess.. no rhyme, no reason

Van Hobbies H1b, K1a, T1c, D10g, F1a, F2a, G5a. Division Point: H24-66 Hammerhead, Alco covered wagons A-B-B-A, C-Liner A-B-B-A, EMD FP7A A-B-B.

Cisco Kid,

Holy smokes, I have more than I thought.  Just did a fast mental tally and miscounted.  Looks like its more.  Most of my loco's are stock still, and need decoders and someday modify the noses to have proper signal lights and plows.  Only the newer RTR Athearn SD40T-2's and SD45's have the correct plow and signal light out of the box (save some are supposed thave Mars vs Pyle gyra light but its real hard to tell without a magnifier).  The Atlas GP40-2's have the nose light but the plows are incorrect.  Only decoder equipped loco's I have are the sound equipped and the Atlas silver series GP40's.  I have been trying to collect decoders to install but have a long way to go.

Most of the loco's above were purchased around the time they were first on the market from one of  afew mail order places I have used over the past 15 years including Tom's Trains of Connecticuit, MB Kleins, a few of them on Ebay and a few at train shows.  I've generally paid about 30% off of MSRP or less.  One of the Genesis F3AB sets I snagged for $130 off Ebay.  Another Genesis F3AB set I got at a train show for about $150.  My Stewart F's are some of the oldest loco's I have and my Athearn RTR SD's are among the newest.

Wow, Mr. R Grande, that is a nice collection of locos!

I thought I had a guilty pleasureable awful lot with 113 or so.

Did you purchase these all retail?  I was only able to collect as many as I have because I lurked around EBay and picked up new old stock or good condition used, and turned them all to DCC.  I think I have only a dozen or so new with DCC from online stores.

What is your total?  You show the number 125 at the top but the group totals are much higher.

Well done!

And Mr. Kieran, my second loco ever was my Great Northern SW1200....and still my favourite switcher

B&O1952

There used to be an old Bowser turntable here, but it wasn't big enough for our biggest steamers so we replaced it with a Walthers 130' TT.

I am guessing this is the earlier version of the Walthers 130' TT.  I have had an order in for the DCC version for almost one year now....it will be a year in August and that is the projected shipping date .  Goodness, what a delay...Walthers had a problem with the electronics of the first DCC ones, so I guess it is taking awhile to correct the issue....but one year, wow!

Two Proto 2000, GP's and a 30 year old brass Baldwin for local work.

Athearn F-7, A&B,  and SD-9 make up the Chatsworth Turn

These are some of my favorite diesels.

Everytime this thread surfaces I post the latest additions...  This last week I've only got three additions:
Found a clearance on NYC 20th Century Limited Power:

A set of Stewart-Kato F3s in Northern Pacific

And just won on e-bay (haven't even paid for yet)  a Proto-2000 E8 in Santa Fe

I plan to steal the NYC E7A power/sound chassis, paint the trucks aluminum and swap it out into the Santa Fe body.

That will give me a NYC ABBA set for my 20th Century.  The Santa Fe E8 for train #190.    Looks like I'll have a soundless NYC E7A on the surplus market.
