Columbus, Ohio, train show...
Posted by danmerkel on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 8:20 PM

Is anyone going?  It's this weekend on both Saturday & Sunday.  I think Mrs. M. and I will make the trip IF the weather holds up.  Right now, we are under a flood warning here in NW Ohio AND they are saying that we could see 1-3" of snow on Saturday.

I went last year and it was by far one of the best shows I've been to in a very long time.

Dan,

Where exactly is the train show being held at?  Is there a link to it at all?  Thanks.

Ohio State Fairgrounds (aka Expo Center) from I-71 near the State Historical Society and the Highway Patrol Academy, go west on 17th and look for the signs. The entrance will be near the overhead cable car stanchion.

It will be a good show, lots of goodies and deals. Taking Dr. Lucy with me (wife) to buy more home decor. And since its Valentine's Day...she won't be able to say no to anything that I end up with under my arm.

I am going to try to attend.  I've been nursing a pinched nerve in my hip which has made walking far a painful adventure.  Yesterday and today is has started feeling better.  If it keeps getting better I will try to make it.  I always enjoy the show.

They have several different shows at the fairgrounds every year and I have trouble keeping them straight. Some of the shows have railroad memorabilia in addition to model trains while others have just model trains. From the posted link, it sounds like this is the latter.

I made it to the show today for a short while.  The crowd was good, for a Sunday.  I've seen bigger on a Saturday.  I was able to pick-up a Kato C44-9W for $21 off the sales prices I have been seeing on-line.  The number of vendor tables was a little less than normal but not alarmingly so.
