Can anyone steer me towards turnout specifications for Proto:87? Are they part of the NMRA literature now (I haven't belonged in a few years)? I would like to try and handlay a turnout. I am also wondering what is the best rail for the new prototype 286,000lb cars and the proposed 315,000lb cars. Trains magazine seems to indicate going back towards heavier mainline rail. The new track centerline distance has also been changed to 20' to allow for less slow orders when doing maintenance on adjacent tracks.
Has anyone incorporated the new Alexander "diamond" shaped frogs?
Matt Warnick
