I bought an Atlas TT W/Motor Operator and I had a minor problem with gear noise. I fixed the problem with some White Lithium grease on the gears. As for the realism issue, well, I can't help you there. I have a nice turntable (conversation piece) that is now quiet and operates very smoothly at any speed. <br /> <br />Good Luck, John
