Any fellow BN modelers out there?

And if so what area in the US are you modeling?

Montana here/Great Falls/Glacier Park.

right here. i plan on on modeling what made the BN RR. GN and CB&Q mostly though. i live in Wisconsin. i'm just going to make something up. make it original. i don't get out enough to know where the RR went through. i'm mainly interested in CB&Q. i also plan on getting some CNW and Rock Island stuff. i already have a RI locomotive and 2 boxcars. would also like to get a Great Northern locomotive. most likely it will be a P2K GP7. i'll have 3 if i get one of these. also most likely the CNW loco i get will be a P2K GP7.

if you ever want to talk i have AIM and i'm logged on all the time. not around all the time but i never log out.

when i do start my layout i think i'll try and have it a late fall early winter seen. have a little snow. if i can figure that out.

I miss cascade green, but merger made the BN, and has given me an interesting modeling opportunity. I am going to be modeling the route of the Amtrak Empire Builder as it passes through the Twin Cities. A very large and complex interaction of 3 major railroads, BNSF, CP and UP and some small ones too. The Empire Builder runs on CP (ex Milwaukee Road) from Chicago to St Paul where it switches to BN for the remainder of its run to Seattle. Along the way through the cities there are shared trackage rights, junctions and interchanges. The plan represents 2 complete BNSF subdivisions, 2 CP subdivisions, and parts of 2 UP subdivisions. A scaled down representation of Northtown yard, and the Midway intermodal facility are also planned. Talk about action! If you are interested in learning more about the railroads of the Twin Cities, check out the December 2003 issue of Trains magazine. It has an entire section on the subject. By the way, I work in 3 rail "O", fortunately I have 2000 square feet to devote to the project.

I don't really model the BN, just the trains that went into and out of Stockton, California. Western Pacific pooled power with BN during the early 1970s so I have a few of BN locomotives and some cars to represent the pooled trains.

about a month ago when i went to the Woodbury show we were going to go to the Northtown yard but decided not to. we went to Newport and sat at a restaurant there and watched for about an hour as the trains went past. i want to get up to the Northtown yard some time though.

Very cool. Keep adding to your roster. I think I have about 30 to 40 locomotives now.

I need to make an official count sometime soon.

My first BN locomotive was an Atlas GP38 High Nose. Still a wonderful runner.

Hawks, the real spot to watch trains is Dayton's Bluff, just east of downtown St paul. A lot more traffic, though Newport is nice too. Take US 61 north from Newport, and turn on Warner Road. I plan to have both spots on my layout. By the way, you went right past where I live on your way to Woodbury. Email me if you want to know more.

ya i went with a group of older MRR to the show in Woodbury and in White Bear Lake. where abouts in Woodbury do you live. i know how to get to Tamarack (sp?) and how to get to my moms dentist. thats about all i know in Woodbury. we hardly ever go to the Twin Cities for anything. mainly to Eau Claire.

my friend who got me into this hobby models from i believe the Stillwater power plant down to La Crosse on both sides of the river. he has the Newport part on there that is really cool.

do you know of when the next shows are coming up. i know there is 1 or 2 in January in Woodbury and White Bear Lake. not sure about the others.

i have 4 locomotives so far. i plan on buying 3-4 more though. a GN P2K GP7, CNW P2K GP7, and then another BN and maybe a ATSF. i like that yellow and blue. or maybe a Rock Island, CSX, or Canadian Pacific/National.

I don't live in Woodbury anymore, I live just across the river, a couple of miles north of the freeway. Read my profile and email me if you are interested in seeing the layout. I've been a model railroader for over 30 years, you may have even seen my old layout, the one I refer to in the profile. Over 100,000 people did when it was open! and I am not exagerating. But like I said before, this isn't really the place to have this "conversation" we are probably boring everyone else by getting off topic.

White Bear is Jan 31st, not sure about Woodbury I haven' t gone in years.

I to model BN. Primarily, from Laural, south through WY, to the SD-NE borders and south to Denver. The section that falls within the Powder River basin is BNSF. while the Former C&S, and CB&Q throug Torington, Gournsey, Casper, THermopolis, ect. I model BN 1976. Read my profile for more info.

i model the burlington northern in the nothwest, around the Portland, Oregon area. I have 2 GP50's and model in HO scale. Have a nice day!
