General Radius for a 4-8-4

My BLI 4-8-2 Mountain will not negotiate lees than 24" radius, but I totally agree that 30" radius looks much better. My yard ladder is #5s and it does OK on that. That TO radius on the diverging route works out to roughly 22.5" radius. I would say that is as tight as I could go unless I were to equip it wit blind (no flanges) drivers on the center 2 axles. I have a Pacific 4-6-2 with the center driver blind, but I've never seen a 4-axle loco with the center drivers blind. I would suggest setting up a test track with flex track and see what your minimum radius the 4-8-4 will negotiate. Tweet<br>
