Peco code 75 rail and turnouts
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, November 29, 2003 10:09 AM
Is anyone using Peco code 75 rail including turnouts? I am building a new layout and want to use Peco code 75 rail. All of my engines and rolling stock have RP 25 wheels, and I am wondering if there will be any problems?
Thanks,
Paul

I'm building a switching layout using Peco code 75 track and points/switches and I've had no problems at all with RP25 wheelsets. I have even run stock with finescale wheels through the switches without problems.

Remember though, you must check the back-to-backs on your wheels, so that they won't split the 'frog'.

It's the older models with 'steamroller' wheels that you may find rolling over the sleepers.

Hope this helps

I haven't tried Peco's C75 rail, but I do have a siding in Code 70 on my module.

My group has run this module with a wide variety of equipment, and the only problem we had was with a Mehano/IHC steamer with flanges that bottomed out on the spikes. It ran, but it sure looked funny waddling through that siding.

Meanwhile, everything else ran through there just fine, including more than a few older Athearn cars with plastic wheels.
