I use Adaware, Norton Internet Security and 2 other unnamed programs to specifically block ads, pop ups etc. (Might even improve your security as well) There is no advertising activity on my service other than a small ad via my ISP from time to time. Also try "shoot the messenger" because they use your Instant messaging service to deliver advertisements. I do not have any problems with ads in magazines, historically over 30 years it is a favorite way to learn of new things in the hobby.
