Have they given up on the Greatest Hobby Website?
Posted by detting on Monday, November 10, 2003 3:30 PM
I was checking out the world's greatest hobby website today, to see if they uploaded any pdf files for (and I know that I will screw this up again) bring a model train to work day. It appears that the site has not been updated since August. The August giveaway winner is still posted. The scale downloadable billboards are still under development. And it looks as if the page has been frozen in time.

Is this hobby so great, that they no longer have time to maintain their page? Is this site a volunteer effort? Or have they just given up on the Worlds Greatest Hobby?

Later...
Mike

I e-mailed the webmaster right after reading your post. It has been 5 days now with no reply. Hmmmm, maybe no one is home.

Get out there and show what the Greatest Hobby is. You yourself will love for what you are doing. I hope that the website comes up, I like to everyone for what I am doing.

Hi Guys,

Sorry if you've experienced any difficulties with the WGH site. I checked it out this morning and the PDF billboards downloaded just fine. I'm not sure what suggestions to offer you there. The billboards have been available since late last year. As for the lag time on the sweepstakes winners, that has to do with the legal stuff that goes with naming the winners. Names are drawn the first week of the following month. (Hence October winners will be drawn this week.) At that point, legal documents are sent to the winners which then must be signed and returned before we can post the names on the site. Some winners take longer than others to reply, causing the lag time in posting the names.

The WGH site is updated at least once a month as we have available new material.

If you have any further questions, please write to me directly. dpopp@mrmag.com
