My friend has a new one, I just ran it last week. It has a very smooth start & stop while operating. I ran it slowly, I don't think it runs really really fast though. Seemed like a nice engine. (He keeps his tracks very clean too.) I'm an Atlas guy myself, but I do have 2 Proto2000, a GP-30 and an SD-60. I can tell you that the SD60 is a real bull. It can pull a very long train without stalling, and it's a real heavy engine. Life-Like puts alot of weight in them, good traction. They run smooth, but I do rely on Atlas mostly. If you are looking into the Proto2000, they are all DCC ready. You probably already know that though. Go ahead and buy one! Later, Pete
