Kay-Dee Spike Gun

I looked up the ad for this thing in a 1969 Model Railroader. It looks really handy, but staple guns I've used pack a lot of punch. Didn't the spike gun distort the rails when it shot the spikes in? <br /> <br />Also spotted an article in a 1977 MR about a guy who made his own spike driver, though you need a small lathe to shape the metal tubing he used. Still had to push or hammer the spike in, but I guess it made it easier to position. <br /> <br />Tom Chmielewski <br />associate editor, trains.com <br /> <br />
