Chicago and Alton Railway
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, October 26, 2003 10:42 AM
In honor of my Great Grand Father I am in the beginning stages of trying to model the Chicago and Alton Railway, between 1930 and 1940, from Carlinville, Illinois to Alton, Illinois. Would anyone have any photographs of the line for this time period and area. I would like to make it as realistic as possible, and especially the rail bridges of the era as well. He was a bridge builder for the line for the period.
Thanks Robert

You might want to contact the GM&O Historical Society, which covers the C&A as a GM&O predecessor

Surely somebody associated with the GM&OHS either has or knows where you can find the information you need.

A book has been published about the C&A recently. It mostly a history text, but maybe it has some clues:  The Chicago & Alton Railroad:  The Only Way.

I hope this helps.
