Frank:
Another thing that you can do is to replace the Con-Cor kingpin with the adapter from Micro-Trains and use their kingpin. You'll have to carefully file out the pin holes in the carbody with a file, usually about six turns, and test fit the adapter in the hole. The fit should be very snug to where you almost have to force the adapter in. Then take the file and file out the king pin hole in the truck frame so that the Micro-Trains pin will fit up the head and the truck will turn freely. While the newer Con-Cor wheelsets are much improved with smaller flanges, I don't know what is on your cars, you can replace these with NWSL 17468-4 wheelsets ($5.95).
I've done this on Con-Cor Superliners and have had no problems running.
