Does anyone know of a source for Wahls Hair Clipper Oil ?
I've heard that it's use is one of the best ways to keep tack clean.

A quick yahoo search of Wahl clipper oil turned up 300+ hits, the first being http://www.pet-dog-cat-supply-store.com/shop/wahloil.php which sells it for $2.39 for 4 oz. FRED

Try Wal-mart. If your local store carries hair or pet clippers, they may have Wahl clipper oil. Personally, I've had mixed results with clipper oil. True, it puts a protective coating of oil on your rail, but that oil also attracts dirt and you might wind up having to clean track more often. Track cleaning has been beaten to death several times over in various forums from G to Z scale, and there are as many opinions are there are track cleaning products to try. Most people say it's best to keep dirt attractants such as oil off of your track.

Also those large box pet stores sell dog electric clippers - Wahl brand - so they also carry the oil. So look for your local Petcettra.

Beauty supply shop..
$2.50 for 4 ozs but I no longer use it or the $99.00 Tony's clean machine car..

MAAS. www.maasinc.com a 2oz past for $3.00 replaced Wahls and laid off Tony who is now looking to be re-hired by another modeler.

I'm not sure I follow you when you say that MAAS laid off Tony -- Tony Parisi, the developer of the Clean Machine, has his own business, Tony's Train Exchange, that specializes in DCC products, and does not work for anyone but himself.

It seems there are differing opinions about Wahl Clipper Oil. Perhaps some modelers use too much and leave the rails "oily". A friend of mine cussed it because "it left all this black gunk on the rails". This "black gunk" was what the clipper oil removed from his wheels! Once he had the wheels and rail both clean, he was amazed at how great his layout ran. John Allen used a boxcar with a sliding piece of Masonite beneath it. (He also wedged in the center set of wheels in a 6-wheel passenger car truck). As the masonite slid over the rails, it kept the rails clean. I clean all the wheels in a train at one time. I have 3 track cleaning cars of the type like Centerline. I put two locos on the front, then a Centerline rolling car with towel saturated with Clipper oil, followed by the other two cleaning cars with clean, dry towel. This wets the wheels in the train, then the dry cars wipe up the gunk while it is still wet. When I am thru cleaning wheels and track I use the three cleaning cars with Masonite pads (ala John Allen) to wipe the rails clean and dry. I have made some Masonite square pads glued beneath lead weight, which fit loosely down inside the Centerline cars. Attach a small handle to use to left the weighted pads out. It works well for me.

On my small railroad, the $3.00 MAAS laid off Tony. There is no longer a need to run an expensive $99.00 car on a small layout.(over qualified)
So, Tony is out looking for a bigger railroad.
