AHM Passenger cars
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, September 20, 2003 7:51 PM
Greetings,

I have a set of AHM heavyweight 1920 passenger cars that I would like interiors for.

Will the ones IHC sells fit for AHM/Rivarossi?

Thanks,

Probably not! However it is not rocket science to whack the interior to fit the car. I had to do several cuts to force them into Palace Cars.

I think they will as IHC & Rivarossi passenger cars are pretty much the same.
But as wlindsays says, just cut to fit if you need to.

Pikestuff makes passenger car seats in a variety of colors. It should not be too difficult to make your own interior if the IHC interior does not seem right. As far as cutting and changing --- my experience as a railfan is that a person on the outside of a passenger car usually cannot see inside particularly well so this is probably a case where "good enough" should be the working standard. About a year ago I labored to detail the interior of a caboose including actual glass windows (from glass slide covers) -- almost none of it is actually visible! I could have been far more approximate.

Another option is to use Red Cap Lines interior coach kit for partitions, restroom kit for the restrooms, their Heywood Wakefield Sleepy Hollow seats will work for the coach, their sofa will work for the sleepers and the lounge seats will work for the obs. The instruction for the coach interior states that will do one car, however, with judious use, you can do multiple cars. Ch

The current IHC interiors are the same ones designed for the AHM cars. They both are made by Rivarossi. IHC is just the current incarnation of AHM. The address of AHM was Tioga St in Philadelphia. IIRC 12 Tioga and the address of IHC is Tioga St in Philadelphia. IHC and AHM are/were importers and not manufacturers. They are the same car , with minor improvements in trucks and some details but still basic same car.
