Posted by waltersrails on Sunday, July 30, 2006 12:46 PM

The more i read on CSX the more it confuses me here are my ???'S.

1. When did they merge?

2. I read in  1985 trains mags that Chessie was buying new engines and seadboard was buying new engines in there own paint shemes.

Thats all for now all ask more later.

I like NS but CSX has the B&O.

CSX was a sort of multi-step creation:

  • CSX Corporation was formed on November 1, 1980.
  • Subsidiary CSX Transportation absorbed Seaboard System Railroad on July 1, 1986.
  • Chesapeake & Ohio, the only corporate survivor of the Chessie System Railroads, was merged into CSX on August 31, 1987.
