Well I have bought a bunch of Train stuff on ebay and have not had any problems. I also sold the last of my narrow gauge stuff on ebay. I did not have any problems with people wanting to return stuff. I did make sure I had good clear pictures of each item along with a good discription. I listed the shipping at amount that was close to the shipping cost, and it only went over a on a few items, but it was under on a few itmes also, so i broke even on the whole shipping cost thing. As a seller it is not to make money on the shipping of the item, but the item it self.
I did have a very good experince on ebay, I won an item, paid with paypal, and then got an email the next day saying that seller perferred a money order and I should cancel the transaction with paypal. I called payapl and was told that the seller would have to issue a credit. I sent the money order and he promised me a refund from the paypal payment. I got the item and no refund. But the seller was good enough to offer a refund because I paid twice for the item. I told him to just send another car, gave him a list of cars I would be happy with and he did. I am very pleased with the whole transaction, and as a seller and buyer hope to find more people that are honest and hope not to run into any scammers.
As a buyer of items on ebay, I watch the shipping cost very closly, because that adds to the cost, and as it is a hobby we all have limited money to spend on it. At some of the shipping cost that they have list for some of these items, I can drive 2 hrs to a LHS and purchase the item for a few dollars more than what the highest bid is. I continue to shop on ebay, only becasue it is a long drive to the LHS and back, and if he does not have the item in stock, he can always order it for me, and then another trip up there and back to get it.
