I consider myself one of the luckiest guys in the hobby. Not only is my wife an excellent modeler, we both share our love of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Right now we are in the process of prepping the basement to start construction of our HO scale version of the Pennsy.

I do most of my modeling work myself, but try to get friends input some times. I have a set of F units I'm getting to be pretty proud of, but haven't got finished yet. (Being at college, my trains had to stay home...)

Also, do online groups count? I'm involved with a group on Yahoo! that has several beginning to excellent modellers.

I'm all alone so far, but I am training my two young children (girl 7 and boy 4) early. The 4 year old is heavily into the Thomas the Tank Engine wooden trains and my 7 year old is ready to begin building her own small simple structures. I figure by the time they are 10 we will start our own club.

I model by myself, but I occasionally get help from my french teacher (who I assume is THE other person in this town who digs the hobby)
