Timesaver + question (again)

Hi,

I saw the post about getting in touch with John Flann ("Timesaver +", MRP2003). I will send in a letter to him, via MR, if necessary. But perhaps someone would not mind answering the following questions, if known...

1. What type track is used? (Atlas, Peco, ???)
2. What code is the track? (100, 83, ???)
3. What are the turnouts? (Atas snap, #4, #6, 18" radius, 22" radius, ???)
4. How are the turnouts controlled? (switch machines, manual, ???)
5. Are magnetic uncouplers used, and if so, what type?
6. What is the base? (1/2" shelf, plywood, stryofoam, ???)

Paul- Can't help with specifics on the Timesaver+ but I did contact John Flann about it.
What I had to do is send a letter to MR. Inside the envelope include another with your return address and his name on it. MR added the rest and sent it on. Don't forget a stamp. I had to e-mail MR to find out who at MR to send the letter. I did get a response from John Flann and his information concerning my layout was most helpful.

I did not see this article, but our local club has a switching module that we take to shows that is based on John Allen's classic Timesaver plan. I will try to answer your questions based on what I know about our module - maybe it will help.

1. Track I believe is Atlas flex
2. Code 100
3. Peco small radius insulfrog
4. Manual control - just reach over and flip the turnout with your finger.
5. Kadee delayed uncoupling magnets are installed all over the place, but we plan to remove them and uncouple with an uncoupling tool, like a screwdriver, or bamboo skewer.
6. The module is built on a 2 foot wide by 6 foot long by ~14 inches high 5/8 plywood box. It is very heavy, but can be managed by two strong individuals. The space inside the box houses the power supply and electronics for the automated flashing lights on the crossbucks, and provides storage for the rolling stock and switcher.
