I prefer HO, you can get alot of detail in a reasonable space. I started collecting HO trains when I was about 13, bought my first car - didn't have any track tho. I've never had an area that I could build a permanent layout but now I have a 2100 sq ft unfinished basement so my imagination runs wild. I'm not going to use all that space for trains tho, I need my workshop,exercise room, an entertainment room and such. Planning on using an area about 12' x 20', I think.
