Many people are heavily invested in either O gauge or HO because the product is readily available and has been for years. I became reaquainted with S gauge a couple of years ago when I lucked out with a house sale across the street from me. I combined the recent items with the set I was given in 1951 and the spark took off from there. I'm convinced S is a more functional form of HO since there is two rail track, but it is easier for youngsters to handle and re-rail cars while it is a bonus for older folks like me who have a little harder time with details and bifocals. <br />Also, manufacturers like Lionel, K-Line, American Models, S-Helper, MTH and others make it easier each year to add to the old stock. There is S-Gaugian magazine and the National Association of S Gaugers, too!
