well, it would be impossible to install it backwards in the socket. So Im assuming you wired in the harness yourself? Whether you did or not though its a simple fix. Take the loco apart and you will find 2 wires going to the motor. These wires are generally grey and orange but manufacturers like to make things difficult sometimes. Just unsolder the wires from the motor and switch them. Right motor lead to left side of motor and vice-versa. This will fix your problem.
