Continuing with my series, here's another fun one:

It's an Athearn GP-9 onto which I grafted on a leftover Detail Associates widecab to make a fantasy model. Other details from my parts box to make it more or less believeable! My story is the engine was involved in a wreck and the railroad had a spare wide cab available, and the used it.

The decals came from a friend who used to make custom models for Canadian Pacific. They would be presented to customers and retiring employees. When CP was working on changing over from their CPRail identity, this lettering was one of the schemes considered. So they had my friend have some custom Microscale decals made to letter some models for evaluation. The scheme eventually adopted was the "dual flags" one and not this one. A little bit of corporate history!

More to come!

Bob Boudreau
